Meet Our Board Members
Sumit Sen
DirectorSumit joined the Actis Long Life Infrastructure team in 2017 and is responsible for Actis’ infrastructure activities in India and South East Asia. He has over 20 years’ experience across accounting, investment banking and investing in energy, infrastructure and other sectors.
Prior to joining Actis, Sumit worked for 13 years at Goldman Sachs (GS), most recently as Executive Director in the GS Principal Investment Area (PIA) where he was responsible for investments across sectors with a specific focus on energy, infrastructure, TMT and healthcare. Whilst at PIA, Sumit was a key member of the team that led the investment in Renew Power, one of the largest Indian renewable companies.
Prior to joining PIA in 2011, he spent seven years with Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Division in India (including two years in Bangalore) where he helped build GS’ Investment Banking business in the region.
Sumit began his career in the assurance division at PricewaterhouseCoopers (2002 – 2004) in India. He is a Chartered Accountant by training, B.Com (Honours), and a Level II CFA.
Ralf Nowack
DirectorRalf joined Actis in 2019 as Energy & Infrastructure Operations Director.
His main focus is with Actis’ Long Life Infrastructure Fund (ALLIF) deals from both a due diligence perspective and driving operational performance to ensure that the assets deliver the firms’ investment committee case expectations.
Prior to Actis, Ralf worked at Contour Global for three years as Renewables COO, managing an operations portfolio of over 1500MW of wind, solar and hydro assets.
He was also responsible for the construction of new build renewable projects and global health and safety. Ralf has 30 years’ experience working in the power sector across Europe, Latam and Asia with Contour Global, RWE and the Steag Group undertaking several roles in Finance, Operations, Commissioning, Project Management and Engineering.
Ralf is a mechanical engineer holding a PhD from Aachen University in Germany on “Reduction of CO2 emissions from coal power plants”. He speaks English, German, Spanish, French, and a bit of Dutch.
Ram Mohan
DirectorRam joined Athena Renewables in 2020.
He has over 32 years of experience across power and infrastructure.
Ram has joined Athena Renewables from Mahindra Susten Pvt Ltd where he has served for more than 9 years. He was one of the early founding members of Mahindra Susten and he handled major functions as Head of Business Development, Head of Design & Engineering, COO & Head of Solar Business.
He was instrumental in seeding and growing various businesses in Mahindra Susten such as 2.5 GWp Utility Solar (Domestic & International), C&I (Rooftop and ground mounted), 1 GWp O&M services and Build Solutions (Factory Buildings). His last achievement in the previous organisation was operationalizing the International Business with successful execution of the 405 MWp Sakaka project, the first major Solar Project in KSA.
